Explosion at Hunan’s Yongzhou Bureau of Public Security
There was an explosion on July twenty first at the Yongzhou city Bureau of Public Security building in Hunan province. It was caused by high temperatures in the chemical lab of the Criminal Division, which caused a sample of soil-explosive to detonate, the Bureau said.
According to Chinese media, officers from the bureau removed a one-kilogram sample of soil explosive mixture from a crime scene on July sixteenth, and left it in the lab. High temperatures in the past few days caused the sample to self- combust causing an explosion, damaging parts of the building’s doors and windows. There were no reports of injuries.
Another explosion occurred earlier on July ninth at the Bureau of Public Security in Guangzhong County in Hebei province. According to officials there, the explosion was accidental, caused by mishandling of firecrackers.
