Large Number of Children Infected with Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease in Tangshan City of Hebei Province
Recently, the epidemic of “Hand, Foot and mouth disease” is spreading in Tangshan of Hebei. There is a large number of children infected among the city of Tangshan and country sides with overcrowding of patients in hospitals and child health care hospitals, and with many numbers of death cases. A number of medical staff in the hospitals and child health hospitals confirmed the case. However, the authority still has not yet released the news of an epidemic.
Since the full-blow of the epidemic, hospitals and child health hospitals could not accept too many patients. Currently the patients spread to urban hospitals. Pediatrics doctors said that a ward has already been dedicated for hand, foot and mouth disease, but is already full.
According to the mainland citizens there have been eight children that have already died in the local hospital and child health hospitals on one day and almost every other day. Some people also said that children infected with hand, foot and mouth disease in Beijing had also spread to Tangshan.
The head of Pediatrics in Tangshan City People’s Hospital said that there was no effective measure; otherwise people would not be dying.
A subsidiary hospital in Tangshan Coal Mine Hospital had set up special infected area wards. He says that they are unsure of the severity of the disease, but at the moment they were treating about 30 children, and the majority are under four-years-old, but the eldest is eight-years-old.
The local television, Tangshan news, had reported on the disease, which lasted for fifty minutes and all of it was pre-edited.
