Signs of unrest amongst CCP upper ranks.
Influential Hong Kong magazine “Open” has revealed that hardline officials of the Chinese Communist Party have set their target on Premier Wen Jiabao, and may force him to withdraw from his post. CCP Vice Chairman Xi Jinping and the Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Li Keqiang is expected to take over.
The report said that hardline conservative officials in the CCP’s Central Propaganda Department and Chinese newspaper Renminbao have denounced recent government action, with the blame clearly pointed at Wen Jiabao’s agreement with democratic values and human rights.
This infighting within the Chinese Communist Party began on February 26th last year, on the eve of the People’s Congress and People’s Political Consultative meetings. At that time, state run media printed an article allegedly written by Wen Jiabao, which claimed the following: “Science, democracy, rule of law, freedom and human rights are not possessed exclusively by capitalism, instead, these are the fruits of civilisation, and the common value obtained and created through the progress through history by humankind in common pursuit.”
