During this year’s Olympic Games, a human rights advocate in Fujian Province, Mr Ji Sizun appealed to the Beijing Public Security Bureau. He wanted to demonstrate at the so-called “three open park locations” announced by the authority. However he was detained. It has been revealed that he was held in the second detention center in Fuzhou of Fujian Province. Zhang Jianping from Jiangsu Province and other human rights defenders launched rescue activities.

Zhang Jianping said that in order to carry out his rescue, they are now eager to find Ji Sizun’s relatives. Zhang said that he himself is also currently a victim of such system in mainland China. In his view, as one of the descendants of the Chinese nation, he believes Chinese people should stand up to safeguard the rights of the people of this nation.

Zhang Jianping also said that in order to be more effective in rescuing Ji Sizun, they are launching a nationwide signature appeal.
