In the afternoon of November 5, in regards to the glaring case - Lin Jia-Xiang, former Party Secretary of Shenzhen Maritime Safety Administration Bureau, raping a 11-year old girl, Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau held a press conference, claiming the charge of Lin’s indecency was not substantiated, and his inappropriate act was merely under the influence of alcohol.
Shenzhen police cited five findings, with one of result being: ” the video recorded by on-site video cameras had not detected Lin Jia-Xiang’s act of indecency, which coincided with relevant statements of both parties involved in physical contact…… Lin Jia-Xiang’s behaviour that night could not be classified as an obscene act.”

According to the families of the victimized girl, they went to the hotel after the incident in an attempt to fetch the video recorded near the toilet entry. However, the section of video had disappeared for no reason. So far it still remains unknown if the camera probe was out of function before the incident or if it had been meddled with. The hotel authority refused to make any reply on the incident.

Police said “the Inappropriate act towards a young girl with his hands on her shoulder and close to her neck made the girl feel pinched, frightened and she suffered mental harm, this can be called improper manners in a public place or disorderly conduct.”

The girl’s mother said that after this incident, her daughter’s mood has been very strange, and allowed no one to mention this incident before her and she even often woke up from her cries during sleep. Before she was obedient and kind, now she seems to have become hot-tempered, and would not leave her mum for one moment. She often says to her mum: “I am afraid!”.
