Tibetan shot dead by military police in Tibet for work strike
Tibet, March 29. One Tibetan monk has died and eight more have been injured when Chinese Communist military police opened fire on protesting Tibetans on March 27, one day before the so called “Serf Liberation Day” established by the Chinese Communist party.
Tibetans in the Luhuo prefecture in the Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Region have been protesting against the cruel oppression of the Tibetan people by the Communist regime by stopping work on the farms. Officials sent in work groups and military police to investigate the reasons for the strike. Unhappy with the silent protest, the military police began shooting at the Tibetans.
The usually stable region of Ganzi is now under a tense cloud with officials using nearby Maretang as a makeshift airport while helicopters are used to bring in troop reinforcements to a number of prefectures including Gangzi and Luhou. Communication systems including the internet and short-messaging have now been cut off for close to two months.
