Zheng Enchong, a Human Rights Lawyer living in Shanghai recently shared his ongoing ordeal at the hands of the local police. Mr Zheng has been summonsed 48 times by the Shanghai Zhabei District Public Security office, each time being a deliberate method of intimidation and sessions of physical abuse so as to silence and persecute him.  Mr Zheng shared with SOH that he understands Yang Jia’s situation even more closely now that he has fallen victim to the this new tactic that the communist regime is using in order to persecute those who stand up for the basic human rights of the Chinese people.

Mr Zheng stated he feels that Yang Jia, a man that was executed for killing Zhabei policemen after years of torment, was hoping to awaken the hearts and minds of the public through his actions. Mr Zheng goes through 5 to 12 hours of torment and abuse each time he is summonsed. His interrogations normally finished around 1am, he then makes his way home exhausted. He explained to SOH that now they are beginning to summons him at night time to intensify the suffering of his ordeal.

Mr Zheng said that the authorities are also now putting pressure on him by harassing his wife Jiang Meili, and are pushing him to plead guilty to false charges that they are trying to pin on him. This is apparently a common tactic used by Chinese police to jail those who they have been instructed to incarcerate or whom they want to silence.  Mr Zheng told SOH that he is at a loss of words to describe the evil nature of the regime and its affiliated organs and can only imagine the horrific state of the other cities and towns.
