Heilongjian forest fire causes one death

On the afternoon of April 27th, a fire started in the Yinan River Forest in Heilongjiang Province, causing one death and four injuries. According to mainland Chinese media, local officials confirmed the fire started in Yinan and spread to neighbouring districts, Heihe City in Xunke county and Yichun City. At present, it has caused the death of one fire fighter, four injuries and has consumed 30 houses. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Experts predict over the next 24 hours, the area will still be vulnerable to forest fires. On April 29th, the local meteorological bureau and forest fire prevention headquarters together issued a ‘red forest fire’ warning in Heihe City and Northern Yichun.
