Wuhan hit by crushing weather
In the early morning of June 28th, a big bang woke Wuhan residents from their dreams. Up till 15:00 on the 28th, lightning struck Wuhan City in Hubei Province 3,045 times. Jiangcheng was hit by the most powerful thunder this year.
According to statistics from the Lightning Control Centre of Hubei Province, the entire province of Hubei saw 40,520 thunder-strokes on the 28th. Lightning pierced Jiangcheng’s night sky. Thunder rumbled incessantly. The peak time for Wuhan’s thunder was 4-6am, including 1,422 times from 4-5am.
It was reported that at 3:35 the Jiangbei Electrical Network was hit by thunder. Some areas around Hankou riverbank and Jianghan experienced power failure. It was not until 90 minutes later that normal power supply was completely restored in these areas.
