Beijing has currently entered its peak flu season. Since the end of December 2008, the number of flu related cases and the flu virus rate has increased 1 to 2% over the same period last year. Many children with flu have packed the Beijing Children’s Hospital and the Capital Institute of Paediatrics.

AIDS activist Li Xige of Henan province, has been under house arrest from Chinese authorities for over two years. Her phone lines and Internet have been cut-off. Li Xige says the local government prevents victims from appealing over AIDS, in order to conceal the AIDS epidemic.
